Don’t let your period interrupt your life! Learn how to use Tampax® Pearl tampons and your period won’t slow you down. Tampax Pearl tampons offer LeakGuard™ protection and are easy and comfortable to use. Watch the video below to learn how to insert a tampon.
Let’s begin with a walkthrough of how to correctly insert an applicator tampon.
First, wash your hands and unwrap a new tampon. Choose a comfortable position: squat with your knees apart or stand with one foot up on the toilet seat. Hold the applicator by the finger grip with your thumb and middle finger. The cord should be hanging out the bottom of the tube.
With your other hand, spread your labia. Place the applicator into your vagina, aiming for the small of your back—so point the applicator and push up. When your thumb and finger touch your body, the applicator is in the right place.
Relax, try not to tense up—this can make insertion difficult and uncomfortable.
Relax your pelvic fore muscles. While still holding the applicator, use your pointer finger to push the bottom of the smaller tube completely into the bigger tube. The tampon is now correctly inserted into your vagina.
Remove both parts of the applicator and dispose of them properly. If the applicator is cardboard, you can flush it away. If it’s plastic, you need to dispose of it just like we discussed with pads.
You should see the cord of the tampon hanging outside your body. And that’s it!
Remember, it takes practice to use a tampon. You can’t insert one too far, so if it feels uncomfortable, you probably haven’t inserted it far enough. If that happens, remove it and try again with a new tampon. The best day to try this is when your flow is the heaviest. And go somewhere private!
The first few times, you should start with Tampax Pearl Lights or regular absorbency. These have a slim applicator with a smooth finish and a rounded tip for easier insertion. Sometimes it helps if you twist the tampon as you insert it.
Leak-free periods are possible with Tampax Pearl! Tampons provide great, invisible protection by absorbing fluid inside your body – so no one has to know you're having your period. They come in different sizes (absorbencies) to use, depending on your flow.

To catarina! Hello, I've got an answer for you,. hope it helps.
Answer: Well catarina, I see where your coming from. I started wearing tampons because of sports like your going too. I do volleyball and we wear spandex so ofcoarse I didn't want a pad showing. I think its fine for you to use a tampon, its your decision though. I mean there's no rule saying you can't. Hmm, the first time you use one, the inserting is going to be uncomfortable but it shouldn't be painful. It wasn't for me. Whoever told you it hurt maybe they didn't put in right. I hope you learn to get one in, I hoped this helped(: Goodluck!
